• Importance of accurate measurement
• Manufacturing tolerances
• How small are ‘Microns’?
• Basic approach to measurement uncertainty
• Common terms used in metrology
• Importance of calibration, verification, and traceability
• Practical set-up and correct use of basic measurement instruments including micrometers, callipers, gauge blocks and dial indicators
• Basic understanding of coordinate principles relating to CMM’s

Prerequisites
PC DMIS Level 1 certified by Hexagon – Prerequisite (Ideally with several weeks of programming experience)
Introduction to dimensional metrology – Advised
NPL Level 2 – Advised

Basic level of Basic computer literacy – Essential
